Taubul Islam is a Painter, Sculptor, Writer, Photographer and Social Activist. He was born in 1990 at a small village in West Bengal, India. He studied at Indira Kala Sangit Vishavidyala, Khayaragarh. He is the Principal of Barasat Academy of Culture. When renowned art critic, Anirudh Chari visited his exhibition, what he told truly reflects Taubul’s artwork: “Taubul Islam’s works are lyrical, tragic, beautiful and profound. They combine a lived and experienced dimension with a deep and often melancholic sensibility. These are exquisite mindscapes: rich in content, allegories and symbols. Some of the works are complex in a structural sense and even the ones which are not cannot be described as bland. Most importantly, these are the works of an innovative talent who is not afraid. There is also a great deal of isolation and silence in these works which are brief but eloquent essays on transience. Taubul’s talent is apparent in his strong sense of narrative, dynamic compositions, rich tonality, depth of feeling and hints of abstraction all of which combine to produce a rare and almost hallucinatory look and feel. It is astonishing as their authenticity is largely derived from this synthesis of form and content….” He had his first solo exhibition at Ajanta Art Gallery in 2013 and has participated in numerous exhibitions including BFAC Annual Exhibition at Academy of Fine Arts, in 2012, Miniature 101 Exhibition, in 2013, 70th Anniversary of the Victory over Fascism in WWII held by R.C.S (Govt. of Russia), in 2015, Exhibition of Artwork dedicated to the 90th Anniversary of the Public Diplomacy and People’s Friendship Movement at Gorkey Sadan held by Govt. of Russia, 2015, Group Exhibition at Charukala, 2017, Image and Impression held by Aramva Publication and Techno India Group, inaugurated by Shri Pranab Mukherjee (Former President of India).
